The Boxer’s Heir Offers Heartfelt Homage to His Late Dad
The boxing legend’s son Campbell expressed an heartfelt tribute via his first public words after his father’s passing.
Expressions of sympathy been shared around the global athletic scene and beyond following the loss of the former world champion titleholder, who was found at his home recently at the young age of 46.
“Words can’t express how I feel,” captioned his son beneath a series of cherished images.
“People always noted I resembled your twin – not a truer word uttered. Forever looked up to you in each way of life.”
He added: “There’s no way to put into words how much I’m going to long for the good times we shared and each of the good times, which I will remember always. I can’t accept we won’t have more together. I love you, Dad.”
Local law enforcement stated that the athletic legend had been pronounced at his home based in the Manchester area. Officials stated that there were no suspicious elements involved in the incident.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Campbell also embarked on a career in boxing, taking his paid first appearance in recent years. He eventually withdrew from the industry in recent months.
On Monday, the loved ones of the athlete issued a message stating that they were “greatly comforted” by the generous outpouring of support and condolences directed their way.
“He was not only than a world champion. To us, he was only ‘Richard,’ our child. A caring parent, elder, and sibling, and a true friend to many people,” the message said.
“He had a heart as big as his grin, and his generosity, humour, and loyalty touched each person blessed enough to meet him.
“To the wider world, Richard will permanently be remembered as one of boxing’s top champions – a man who dedicated his all inside the bouts and displayed his feelings on his publicly.”
